What We Fund

Powering progress across our communities

Who We Fund

Qualified grant recipients include the following:

Catawba Nation

Cleveland County Region
(Cleveland, McDowell, Burke, Gaston, Rutherford and Lincoln Counties)

Native American Tribes and Native organizations of North Carolina

Projects should fall into one of these categories:

Educational Advancement

We’re committed to investing in education to support future generations. We fund programs that educate local children as well as students from other federally and state-recognized Native American tribes. This includes providing scholarships and high school internships to help expand access to educational opportunities for Indigenous youth across the region. By empowering the next generation through classroom learning, scholarships, and hands-on experiences, we aim to cultivate leaders and prepare our communities for long-term success.

Cultural Preservation

We’re dedicated to honoring our 6,000-year-old heritage, and celebrating the bright future of our community. We fund programs and activities on our ancestral lands that preserve the rich history, traditions, culture, language, arts, crafts, and overall legacy of the Catawba people. By investing in the research, restoration, and public showcasing of our vibrant cultural legacy, we aim to share our story with the world while ensuring it continues to thrive for generations to come.

Environmental Conservation

To protect our ancestral lands and natural resources, we support efforts to acquire conservation easements, real estate interests, and other measures that safeguard the Catawba River and our surrounding environment. We aim to ensure the long-term sustainability of our environment by investing in projects that enhance and preserve these vital natural assets.

Economic Development

We fund projects that enhance economic mobility and opportunity for our community. By investing in public services, recreation, entertainment, and community development initiatives, we can enhance the quality of life for our residents today and for future generations. Additionally, we support efforts to foster employment and entrepreneurship; recognizing the importance of economic security and empowerment for our citizens, and for the citizens of our neighboring Tribal communities.
